Two arrested in connection to fight
A fight involving at least 20 people Sunday night has led to two arrests, police said Monday.
About 8:40 p.m., Costa Mesa’s gang unit officers saw men at the end of Shalimar Drive and Wallace Avenue get into a fight, police said.
Several units responded, and Ignacio Jimenez, 31, of Costa Mesa and Adan Diaz, 22, of Fontana were arrested. Police said it appeared many in the fight were driven into the neighborhood in a van. Jimenez was driving when the van was pulled over, Lt. Clay Epperson said. Diaz was arrested by police as he ran away. Both were booked on suspicion of fighting in a public place with enhancements for being suspected gang members. Diaz also faces possible charges for a potential parole violation, Epperson said.
