Family to hold funeral services for Jasmine today
The family of a Huntington Beach man who died after suffering a heart attack off the Newport Beach coast Monday has scheduled funeral services for him today, and the public is invited, family members said.
Charles Jasmine, 52, was found unconscious 25 yards off the shore Monday by Newport Beach lifeguards who called out to rescue him. Jasmine had been clinging to a buoy calling for help, witnesses said, when lifeguards were alerted he was in trouble.
By the time lifeguards arrived, he was unconscious. Lifeguards pulled him onto the sand and performed CPR until paramedics took him to the hospital, officials said. Jasmine was pronounced dead hours later. An autopsy showed he did not drown, the county coroner said.
Services for Jasmine will be at 3 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 627 Main St., in Huntington Beach.
