COSTA MESA — Sophomore forward Karri Currier had a goal and an assist as the Lions won their season opener Thursday.
Currier scored in the 31st minute on an assist by junior forward Heather Mauck, then assisted freshman midfielder Paige Silva’s insurance goal in the 84th minute.
Junior keeper Jillian Foss needed just one save against Southern Oregon, which dropped to 0-2.
El Camino 1,

COSTA MESA — The Pirates outshot the Warriors, 21-6, but came up short in the nonconference game Wednesday.
Jamie Tribble scored in the 73rd minute.
OCC goalie Caitlin Schott had three saves, half as many as El Camino’s Cynthia Rodriguez.

COSTA MESA — Briant Rodelo and Brian Siemonsma scored three goals each for the Pirates in the season-opening nonconference home win Wednesday.
Rodelo opened the scoring in the fourth minute, with an assist from Toshi Fujimura, but El Camino tied it in the 22nd minute.
From there OCC, which also received a goal from Marco Ramirez, rolled.
OCC goalkeepers Dane Fernandez and Brian Rippeto had six and three saves, respectively.
