Police screen 595 drivers, cite 22 at DUI checkpoint
Costa Mesa police cited 22 drivers and impounded 11 cars during a DUI checkpoint Friday, Sgt. Robert Sharpnack said.
A total of 595 vehicles passed through the checkpoint at Wilson Street and Pomona Avenue, and 29 drivers were screened, Sharpnack said.
No one was arrested for driving under the influence, but five drivers were cited for having no license and five more for driving with a suspended license, Sharpnack said.
Officers plan to conduct another checkpoint Sept. 4 at 19th Street and Pomona Avenue.
