Thanks for your article about a bill to expedite solar energy plant installation initiated by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (“Bill would expedite solar power plants,” July 17).

With the election season upon us, a balanced approach and coverage of the 46th congressional district race is critical. My only comment is that you are not covering all the candidates. The Democrat and Republican candidates were quoted but no third-party candidates. The Huntington Beach Independent is discriminating against a significant portion of the population; as many as 40% of the voter base is registered outside the two-party system.

With the 110th congressional approval rating sinking to an all-time low of 9%, it is clear that Democrats and Republicans are not representing the people. Why is that? It may have something to do with Democrats and Republicans accepting contributions from corporations, PACs and special interests. Tom Lash, the Green Party candidate, accepts no money from corporations. His voice is critical to the 2008 election because he answers to no one but the voter.
