Locals now have something new to look forward to on Mondays. Newport Beach’s Sage Restaurant recently introduced a new promotion for diners on Monday nights: 20% will be deducted from every guest’s bill.

Making an adjustment to the original statement, Sage is now touting, “Thank God It’s…Monday!” in recognition of its promotion which went into effect a week and a half ago.

The restaurant in the Eastbluff Shopping Center is known for its diverse menu — options range from tortilla soup to seafood pizza.

Dinner is served starting at 5 p.m., and reservations are recommended.

Taste French wine, network with people

Five Crowns in Newport Beach will be home to a French wine tasting get-together from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Wine specialist Pierrick Bouquet and general manager Chris Szechenyi will be on hand to distribute the white and red wines to tasters.

The event is referred to as a “Meet-Up,” as it is being coordinated through the online networking website www.meetup.com.

Hors d’oeuvres will also be available, with a list of offerings ranging from goat cheese to mushroom brie to boneless short ribs.

Those who make their reservations through the website will be eligible for a 10% discount.
