RICHARD LUMB VANDERVORT

December 3, 1946 – July 8, 2008

Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Dick moved to

Newport Beach when he was four, so he always

called Newport his home. He attended Newport

Elementary, Horace Ensign, and graduated from

Newport Harbor High in 1963. He was well

known for his sailing abilities, from Snowbirds to

Lido-14s. He attended University of Nevada-Reno,

Orange Coast College and San Diego State. After

his years in the Army, Dick moved to Arizona and later lived in Fargo, North

Dakota and Emily, Minnesota, where he built and remodeled homes.

Dick leaves two brothers, Charles (Jo) and George (JerryLynn), two

nephews, Rob (Mary) and John (Cristie), fi ve great nieces and nephews, and

dear friends in Emily, Th eresa and Ralph Lambert.
