Alumni hoops today

Former boys’ basketball standouts at Corona del Mar and Newport Harbor High schools will each compete today in alumni basketball tournametns at the two schools.

The 20th annual Jack Errion Memorial Alumni Tournament will take place at both gymnasiums at CdM, while the eighth annual Newport Harbor event will take place at the Sailors’ home facility.

The Corona del Mar event, featuring teams from the late 1970s to the recent class of 2008, begins at 8 a.m. with pool play. The championship game is tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Newport Harbor event, still building off an estimated top turnout of 50 players, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. The title game is tentatively scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
