Jones, Thaddeus C., M.D.

March 25, 1924 - July 16, 2008

Born in Pasadena, Ca., Dr. Thaddeus C. Jones practiced medicine in Laguna Beach for over 50 years. He attended Polytechnic School in Pasadena, the Catalina Island School for Boys and Princeton University. In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific aboard the destroyer, USS Massey. Dr. Jones completed medical school at U.S.C. and set up his practice in Laguna Beach in 1955. He was also a former chief of staff at South Coast Medical Center.

Among his passions were soccer, running, flying and sailing. He continues to hold the record for sailing in the most consecutive Transpac yacht races. History, opera, and camping in Baja were also among his loves.

Dr. Jones is survived by his children, Thaddeus (“Moke”), Caroline, Charles, and Susan Oldham; 7 grandchildren, and his brothers, Graham and Nelson. Memorial donations may be made to: Catalina Island Conservancy, P.O. Box 2739, Avalon, Ca. 90704.
