William Bergen Murray

82, father, papa and Balboa Island resident, formerly of

Whittier passed away peacefully surrounded by family

on July 7, 2008. Bill was born on July 26, 1925 in

Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy

during World War II and played basketball for the

UCLA Bruins where he met the love of his life, Peggy

Albright. He was preceded in death by his beloved

wife Peggy of 52 years. He is survived by his loving

children: Cynthia Harcar (John), Suzanne Ferguson

(Jim), Thomas Murray and his cherished grandchildren:

Parker, Conner and Mackenna Ferguson. Bill will

be missed and remembered sitting down by the bay

“greeting” everyone who walked by. A celebration of his

life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations

may be made to American Diabetes Society, Rotary or a

charity of your choice. A beautiful life has come to an

end…he died as he lived everyone’s friend.
