Man arrested on DUI warrant after crash
A Costa Mesa man was arrested Wednesday on a DUI warrant after his car flipped in a single-vehicle accident on Fairview Road.
Francisco Gonzalez-Perez, 46, was driving a white Astrovan south on Fairview Road near Fair Drive when it took down two trees and hit two others at 1:47 a.m., then flipped over and trapped the driver in the vehicle, police said.
Gonzalez-Perez, who had to be rescued from the car by Costa Mesa fire officials, was later determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Gonzalez-Perez was taken to Western Medical Center, but did not complain of any injuries, police said.
Once police determined that he was driving drunk, he was placed under arrest for a DUI warrant from a 2005 offense.
Gonzalez-Perez is in the custody of Costa Mesa police.
