Corey Childers scored an unassisted goal in overtime Tuesday, and the Diablos rode that decisive score to a 7-6 victory over the Surf City Sharks in a Howe Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

It was the second score of the game for Childers, his first coming during a high-scoring third-period that saw the Diablos outscore the Sharks 4-2 to force overtime.

He also had an assist.

Karson Derego led the Diablos in scoring with three goals. Alex Buyan and Drew Truxaw also scored.

Blake Walker registered 38 saves.

Matthew Oyakawa had three goals and an assist to pace the Sharks.

Derek Slayton, John Findley and Alexander Gomez also scored, and Jadin Press finished with 22 saves.

In Norris Division action:

Hornets 6, Young Guns 4

The Hornets took a 4-0 lead through two periods before the Young Guns caught fire and pulled two within 5-4 late in the third period before Grant Kang scored an insurance goal with 30 seconds to play to cap the victory.

Scott Begg of the Hornets led all scorers with three goals. Stephen Kim and Alex Le Bas also scored.

Le Bas added three assists, and Kang and Begg each had one assist.

Weston Bechtold recorded 14 saves.

For the Young Guns, Joshua Gramajo, Andrew De Carlo, Cole Geller and Perry Lightfoot all scored and De Carlo and Lightfoot also had assists.

Timothy Fisk finished with 20 saves.

Softball

The South Huntington Beach 8-and-Under Silver All-star team claimed its first postseason tournament title Sunday.

At the Riptide All-Star Tournament held in Oceanside last weekend, two days of competition saw South Huntington Beach defeat Rancho Trabuco (11-5), Rancho Bernardo (10-4) and Vista (9-2) in pool play.

Those three wins earned the squad a No. 1-seed going into bracket play, where they opened action with a second win over Rancho Bernardo, this time by a 9-0 score.

In the championship game of the tournament, South Huntington Beach held off a late rally by Vista to claim the title with an 8-6 victory.

South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball also announced its 12-, 10- and 8-Under All-Star teams for postseason play. Below is a listing of players representing each division:
