NAIA championships
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Vanguard University senior Jason Valenzuela finished third in the men’s marathon event in a time of 2 hours, 33 minutes, breaking a school record Saturday at Ralph Korte Stadium.
Valenzuela broke Mikael Larsson’s former record, 2:35, set in 2005.
Juan Mejia of Cal State San Marcos won the event in 2:27.44.
Vanguard freshman Christian De Glymes finished 24th in the 10,000 meters in 33 minutes, 10.09 seconds.
Vanguard sophomore Aze Perkins finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.70 seconds Friday. The top six finish with All-American status.
Junior Rebecca Sopp finished 16th in the 10,000 in 38:03 Friday, but pulled out of the 5,000 semifinal because of a hamstring injury.

NCAA championships
TULSA, Okla. — USC senior Kaes Van’t Hof, a Newport Beach resident, is one win away from playing in the doubles championship match.
Van’t Hof and his doubles teammate Robert Farah, the No. 2-seeded duo, defeated Tulsa’s Andy Connelly and Ross Cunningham, 6-3, 6-3, in a quarterfinal match Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Van’t Hof and Farah will play against Bram ten Berge and Matthias Wellermann of Mississippi in a semifinal match today.
Austin Krajicek and Conor Pollack of Texas A&M; play against Mississippi’s Jonas Berg and Erling Tveit, the fourth seed, in the other semifinal today.
The championship match is scheduled for Monday.
