Flash flood warning issued for areas hit by wildfires
Thunder and lightning could pound Costa Mesa and Newport Beach today, according to a National Weather Service report.
The forecast gives thunderstorms and rain a 30% chance today, which will increase throughout the day with a 40% chance of those storms happening overnight and continuing throughout Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
A flash flood warning has been issued, and residents of areas affected by wildfires should be on alert, according to the weather service.
The storm comes from a low pressure system that will lower temperatures 10 to 20 degrees cooler than the previous weekend and make for a stormy Memorial Day weekend, according to the weather service report.
On the bright side, the weather report predicts skies will clear and temperatures to return to the mid-60s starting Sunday.
