Eco-friendly store gives consumers greener seats

Newport Beach-based green furniture designer Debi Bodinus announced her new line of environmentalist-oriented upholstered furnishings this week.

“Through strict processing guidelines, I have created truly green upholstered furniture that is void of the harmful chemical toxins typically found in any standard upholstered piece of furniture,” Bodinus said in a news release. “These chemical toxins can cause allergic reactions, asthma or more serious problems.”

Use stimulus package for vacation package

South Coast Plaza, The Westin South Coast Plaza and AAA Travel are teaming up to cash in on tax rebate checks recently mailed to local consumers, hoping shoppers will opt to buy a swank vacation package with their newfound $600.

Those willing to take the deal are entitled to a weekend hotel stay at the Westin, lunch at Quattro Café in South Coast Plaza, dinner at Pinot Provence in the Westin, Sunday brunch at Scott’s Seafood, and spa privileges at The Spa in South Coast Plaza.

The total cost? $519 for two people.

“Travel is one of the best ways to create long-lasting family traditions and memories, and it doesn’t have to break your budget,” AAA spokesman Jeffrey Spring said in a news release.

To reserve such a vacation, call a travel agent at any AAA office or visit www.aaa.com.
