Do you know pho? With Little Saigon just across the 405 Freeway, you must have seen it on a thousand signs. Perhaps, you haven’t checked it out because you are unfamiliar with Vietnamese food.

Let us introduce you to a sample of dishes in this cuisine, served at what may be the only Vietnamese restaurant actually in Huntington Beach, Mitasie 3.

Pho

Pho is a large bowl of broth filled with rice noodles and your choice of beef, chicken or shrimp. Beef is the most popular but we prefer it with chicken. This dish is all about the broth. Mitasie’s is fresh tasting with a delicate chicken flavor and nary a hint of grease. Slices of chicken breast, nuggets of dark meat and chopped green onions are added just before serving. Accompanying the noodle soup is a variety of condiments for customizing the dish to your taste: fresh basil, slices of jalapeno, sprouts and wedges of lime. Salt and hot sauce (sriracha) are on the table. Try this very inexpensive and delicious meal in a bowl. You’ll join the ranks of the addicted.

Green Mango Salad

This crunchy mixture of julienned green mango, apple and carrot is punctuated with crispy bits of fried shallots, shreds of Vietnamese mint and crushed peanuts. It is topped with excellent, perfectly fresh shrimp and finished with a perky sweet, sour and salty dressing that is oil free, making it a dieter’s delight. This refreshing combination creates an explosion of flavors in your mouth. We promise you will not be able to leave a single morsel on the plate. The new owners of Mitasie 3 say they are the only place around to feature this dish.
