CHINO — Josh Starnes and Tanner Trauthen each shot four-over-par 77 for the Sea Kings, tying them for fifth after the first day at at El Prado Golf Course Monday.
Starnes, Trauthen, Camden Nicholson (78) and Taylor Keddington (79) were the four Sea Kings to advance to today’s round, which will start at 10:30 a.m. Only the top 12 scores qualified on the Chino Creek Course, the tougher of the two courses at El Prado.
The top five will advance to the CIF Southern Section individual divisional at SeaCliff Country Club in Huntington Beach on May 12.

IRVINE — Junior midfielder Adriane Knezevic scored three goals for the Sea Kings during a Pacific Coast League game Monday.
Senior midfielder Alex Hoover had two goals for CdM (9-6, 4-2 in league).

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Brent Pham and sophomore Matt Fisher dropped one game in the Pacific Coast League regular-season finale Monday.
Senior Fabian Matthews finished 33-0 in match play in singles for the Sea Kings (14-4, 6-2 in league), who finished in second place in league to University, will compete in the league finals Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
Fabian is the top seed in singles.

COSTA MESA — Costa Mesa junior Teagan LaBare qualified first in the 100- and 200-meter events during the OCL preliminaries at Orange Coast College Monday.
LaBare ran the 100 in 13.42 seconds and the 200 in 27.59. The league finals are Thursday at OCC at 2 p.m.
In some events, the finals were held Monday. Estancia’s Brianna Valencia finished first in the 3,200 at 13 minutes, 40 seconds, followed by teammates Iris Herrera (14:12.75) and Alejandra Peralta (14:14.83).
Costa Mesa’s Bao Truong qualified first in the 100 hurdles (19.96 seconds). In the finals, she finished first in the long jump (13 feet, 8 1/2 inches) and triple jump (28-9).
Costa Mesa’s Olivia Scheidt placed second in the high jump final (4-2). She took third in the triple jump (23-8).
Costa Mesa’s Mercedes Gordon was second in the shot put (25-6 3/4 ).

COSTA MESA — Costa Mesa Junior Antwon Byrd qualified first in the 100- and 200-meter events during the OCL preliminaries at Orange Coast College Monday.
Byrd recorded a time of 11.46 seconds in the 100 and 23.59 in the 200. The league finals are Thursday at OCC at 2 p.m.
In some events, the finals were held Monday. Camilo Enriquez of Costa Mesa won the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 4 1/2 inches. He placed third in the discus (78-3 1/2 ).
Costa Mesa’s Christopher Lee and Max Friedman placed second and third, finishing at 11 minutes, 42.75 seconds and 11:53.65, respectively, in the 3,200 final.
