Robotics team goes to international competition
In its first year of competition, the Orange Coast Middle College High School robotics team — the Wom-Bots — will also appear in its first international competition after winning a regional battle April 19 in Fresno.
The team, which sent Josh Hogsett, Jennifer Engblom and David Wang to the match, took home first place at the Vex Robotics Bridge Battle World Championship Qualifier.
The win means the team will compete in the inaugural Vex Robotics World Championship at Cal State Northridge Thursday through Saturday.
Prior to the win, the team also received financial support from two local businesses that helped pave the way to the Fresno win, teacher Charlotte Zaremba said.
