COSTA MESA — Sophomore right-hander Ryan Rosenhaun gave up one earned run, six hits, and struck out two in nine innings, but didn’t get the win as the host Pirates broke a five-game losing streak in 10 innings Thursday.
Freshman Ryan Dunn hit a leadoff single in the 10th, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and, one out later, scored on a throwing error.
OCC improved to 27-12-1, 11-6 in conference and remained tied for second.

COSTA MESA — Junior Richard Jessup threw a complete game for the Lions in a Golden State Athletic Conference home contest Thursday, ending Vanguard’s 12-game losing streak.
Jessup allowed one run and six hits to improve to 5-8.
Zach Falk homered and doubled for Vanguard (16-29, 7-26 in the GSAC).

MISSION VIEJO — Greg Hulse won the 50-yard freestyle in 20.71 seconds and Jonathan Franzen won the three-meter diving to highlight Orange Coast College performers in the first day of the event Thursday at Saddleback College.
Franzen’s total of 236.90 points bested teammate Chris Molloy (228.20).
OCC’s Joe Krone was second in the 100 individual medley in two minutes 0.69 seconds and teammate Sean Haken finished seventh in the same event (2:10.99).
Aaron Hoff (4:47.29), Kirk Pfotenhauer (4:47.78) and Elden Carpenter (4:47.91) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, for OCC in the 500 free.
OCC topped the field in the 200 free relay (1:27.84) and the 400 free relay (3:35.35) to help OCC post 302 team points.

MISSION VIEJO — Tiffany Libman won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.42 seconds and Nikki Burrelli won the one-meter diving to hightlight the Orange Coast College competitors on the first day of the event Thursday at Saddleback College.
Jamie Krispel (1 minute, 4.13 seconds) and Ashlee Gray (1:06.06) finished third and fourth, respectivaly, in the 100 individual medley for OCC.
OCC’s Sam Lane (1:07.20) and Maile Johnson (1:08.50) were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100 IM, while Amy White was sixth in the 500 free (5:23.68) and Maddison Martin was eighth (5:30.66) for OCC.
The OCC women lead the meet (225.5 points).
WOMEN’S WATER POLO

SAN DIEGO – The first-round loss dropped the No. 8-ranked Anteaters (15-11) into the consolation bracket of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament Thursday at San Diego State.
Senior Lauren Machanis had 16 saves for UC, which received two goals from junior Julia Fancher.
The No. 9-ranked Spartans improved to 15-13.
