Florence H. (Flossie) O’Bryon

Died peacefully in her sleep, with family at her side, on March 17, 2008. She was born to John and Florence Ann Hernan, on July 20, 1921, in Los Angeles. As a young girl, she moved with her family to San Marino, where she grew up. She attended grade and high school at Marymount in Los Angeles, then went on to Marymount College in Tarrytown New York.

She met Wm. L. (Bill) O’Bryon on her eighteenth birthday, and married him ten years later. They moved to Newport Beach, where they raised their family in Bayshores, which was the greatest joy and happiest time of her life. She loved boating and the beach with her family, and there was always room for one more in her home. She will be dearly missed by all.

Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Ann Hernan, her sister, Joan Caldwell, her husband, Wm. L. O’Bryon, and son in law, Gregg Cherry.

She is survived by, her brother, John Hernan, and her six children, Lesley Cherry, DeeDee (Frank) Malmstone, Kevin O’Bryon, Thom O’Bryon, Michael O’Bryon, Patrick (Karen) O’Bryon, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at her son-Kevin’s home in Irvine, at noon on May 1, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hoag Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.
