Italian menswear store opens at South Coast

Italian food and fashion are so pervasive at South Coast Plaza that last year the shopping center hosted an exposition with the Italian Trade Commission. Today, the retail capital of Costa Mesa is about to get another Italian tenant as the Canali menswear store opens on the third level by Nordstrom.

The store, founded in 1934 by brothers Giovanni and Giacomo Canali, offers shirts, belts, shoes, sportswear and other products made entirely in Italy. Canali also has a history of providing clothes for Hollywood stars, most recently George Clooney in “Michael Clayton” and Paul Giamatti in “The Nanny Diaries.”

“In designing this store, we wanted to create a space that men would find themselves comfortable in, with the highest level of European customer service available on this side of the Atlantic,” said Giorgio Canali, the company’s vice president of North American operations, in a news release. “The Canali man surrounds himself with the best the world has to offer, whether it is a fine wine or a vintage sports car. So it should be no different of an experience when it comes to him selecting his wardrobe for the season.”

Canali will open at 10 a.m. today. Call (714) 662-1800 for more information.
