UC Irvine men’s volleyball coach John Speraw was selected as one of Vanguard University’s 2008 Ethics in America honorees and he received the Sports Entertainment Pillar award at the 12th annual Ethics in America celebration Wednesday at the Grove of Anaheim.

Each year, the program honors individuals who embody character, those who do the right thing, lead by example and inspire others to achieve greatness.

Speraw is in his sixth season at UCI, after guiding the Anteaters to their first NCAA championship in 2007. He picked up his 100th career win earlier this year and has guided UCI to a berth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament that begins next week.
