Transient could face 12 years in exposure case

A Costa Mesa man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to accusations that he masturbated in front of two women at Moon Park Sunday, prosecutors said.

Glen Montgomery, 56, is a transient who was living in his camper off Cadillac Avenue, authorities said. Montgomery rode his bike down a Santa Ana River trail under the 405 Freeway, police said. He is accused of dropping his pants and masturbating in front of two women before riding away. An off-duty officer followed him and directed police until they arrested him, Costa Mesa Sgt. Bryan Glass said.

Court records show Montgomery has been convicted of indecent exposure four times since 1995. Because of his previous convictions, his latest case could bring him 12 years in prison, said Susan Schroeder, a district attorney spokeswoman. She said records are unclear whether this can be prosecuted as a second- or third-strike offense.

Montgomery’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. He is being held in Orange County jail.
