Yacht dealership to unveil unique fishing edition

Jason Jepson used a metaphor to describe why today’s event at the Crow’s Nest Yachts dealership in Newport Beach is so special.

The public relations director, and self-proclaimed wanna-be fisherman, went to “His Airness” when talking about the new Viking Bad Company sportfishing yachts that will be on display today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“It’s like when Nike came to Michael Jordan and made the Air Jordans specifically for him,” Jepson sad. “That’s exactly what we’ve done here.”

Team Bad Company, captained by Steve Lassley, has been one of the top sportfishing teams. And, Viking Yachts built a 60-foot yacht, worth $3.3 million, specially made for Lassley’s crew and for the West Coast waters they compete in.

A 54-foot yacht will also be introduced today.

Usually, yachts are made for East Coast waters and require sometimes up to $800,000 and nine months of work for them to be viable on the West Coast, Jepson explained. Lassley helped design the new yachts that will be used in their upcoming season.

The Viking Bad Company yachts will also be on display at the Lido Yacht Show Wednesday through April 14.
