Ruby’s 16, Chamberlain Group 11: Tommy Brooks had three hits and five RBIs for Ruby’s. Logan Miller had two hits, while Matthew Devarian, Max Kline, Neil Levecke, Calder Maloney, Max Mulcahy, Kyle Rodewald and Brian Wagner also produced hits. Brooks pitched three solid innings for Ruby’s. The Chamberlain group was led by Charlie Rodosky, Tyler Duncan, Charlie Griffin and Zac Baldin.

Ruby’s 9, Quicksilver 4: Ruby’s received great play from many players. Offensively Max Mulcahy, Brian Wagner and Neil Levecke had two hits and each knocked in two runs. Defensively Jake Hastings made three great plays at second base and shortstop Logan Miller turned a double play. Calder Maloney caught six strong innings, while Ruby’s received excellent pitching from Wagner, Matthew Devarian and Mulcahy. For Quicksilver, Mitchell Lund and Jake Giffin had two hits.

Irvine Technology Corporation 8, Scott English General Contractors 5: ITC remained undefeated with a 6-0 record, led by a solid pitching performance from Braden Brahs, Matthew Riese and Matthew Sherburne. Matthew Riese was solid at middle reliever, throwing strike after strike, allowing ITC bats to get the team back into the game, overcoming a three-run deficit. Matthew Sherburne played well in his closing role.

Yankees 7, Angels 5: The Yankees took the early lead with a run in the first inning Saturday. In the second and third innings, the Angels scored three runs, however the Yankees dominated the fourth and fifth innings with five runs scored. Stolen bases by Michael Huff led to a run in the fourth. A triple by Cody Perez and a double by Connor Howard, both in the fifth, resulted in four runs scored. Mickey Beliakoff’s sixth-inning double brought in an insurance run for the Yankees.

National Angels 13, Yankees 4: Connor Howard started the game pitching for the Yankees going three innings and allowing two runs March 18 at Costa Mesa High. Michael Huff’s fine bunt with the bases loaded brought in a run late in the game, which was called due to darkness.

BASKETBALL

Newport-Mesa wins championship: The Newport-Mesa fifth-grade girls All-Net basketball team went 4-0 to capture the Super Sectional tournament title and move on to Nationals. Wins over El Modena, Rancho Santa Margarita and Brea put Newport up against a formidable foe in a Cerritos-Norwalk team. Down by six going into the last quarter, the girls rallied down the stretch to win the final game by three. Newport will now enter the All-Net National tournament as the top seed from Orange County. The Newport-Mesa team includes: Samantha Yeager, Riley Gerdau, Elise Roche, Libby Knight, Shelby Brown, Brianna Westrup, Kaitlynn Bell, Tori English, Brynn Motal and Kristen Kiehnle.

Girls’ under 8

Blue Angels vs. Blasters: The Blue Angels had a great game. Megan, who was assisted by Caroline and Nicole, scored two goals.

Boys’ under 6

Blue Thunder vs. Red Devils: Michael Klein scored two goals. Clayton Walburger scored one goal. Marlon Chavarria and Justin Neal were outstanding players of the game.
