Two-car crash sparks fire on 405; none were injured
A SigAlert was issued Friday afternoon on the 405 Freeway, after a car caught fire following a rear-end collision in the northbound carpool lane near Fairview Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
While no injuries were reported, traffic was congested from South Coast Plaza down to Irvine, according to witnesses. Two Costa Mesa fire trucks were dispatched to put out the flames.
“It was a simple rear-end collision on the 405, two vehicles involved, no injuries,” California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Madden said.
Traffic was moving normally on the highway within the following hour, according to SigAlert.com.
