Body found in Fairmont hotel room identified
Newport Beach police have identified the body of a woman found Thursday in a hotel room as Monique Felicia Trepp, a 33-year-old resident of Huntington Beach.
Trepp’s body was discovered packed in dry ice in a container in a room at the Fairmont Newport Beach after police arrested the room’s occupant, Stephen David Royds, on suspicion of selling drugs. The Orange County Coroner’s Office has said the death does not appear to be a homicide and has not determined the cause or time of death.
Sgt. Scott McKnight of the Newport Beach police said he had no other information on Trepp apart from her name, age and residence.
Royds, 46, of Newport Beach was charged with the sale of narcotics and held at Orange County Jail with bail set at $30,000. Police are investigating whether he was involved in Trepp’s death.
