Investigators working on house fire’s cause
Arson investigators are working to determine what sparked a blaze that engulfed a garage and spread to other parts of a home, fire officials said Friday.
Twenty-five firefighters responded to a call about 8 p.m. Thursday on the 3000 block of Hayes Avenue in Costa Mesa and found the garage engulfed in flames and smoke. As firefighters battled the flames it spread to the main part of the home before it was extinguished. One resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and no firefighters were injured. Officials have not yet tallied up a cost estimate of the damage to the home.
