NEWPORT BEACH — Sophomore Erickson Klein shot an even-par 36 to take medalist honors for the Sailors (3-0) in their nonleague match at Thursday Big Canyon Country Club.

Klein was followed by Chase Behr (37), Travis Ruffle (38), Mychael Clark (39), and Tad Doolin (43).

Steve Choi and James Chai led the Lightning with 45. Mack Mace and Jared Hoffman shot 48, and Steven Grant shot 58.

Newport Harbor will face Foothill Tuesday at Big Canyon Country Club.

NEWPORT BEACH — Three Sea Kings tied for the medalist spot as Corona del Mar avenged an earlier loss to Dana Hills in a nonleague match Thursday.

Senior Taylor Keddington, sophomore Josh Starnes, and junior Camden Nicholson all shot two-over-par 37 for the top score at Newport Beach Country Club. The Sea Kings lost to the Dolphins Monday at Monarch Beach Golf Course.

Jeff Jones shot 40, and Nick Freeman, Tanner Trauthen, and Ryan Grable all shot 44 Thursday for the Sea Kings (1-2). Corona del Mar will play Mission Viejo Tuesday at 2:30 at Mission Viejo Country Club.

BEVERLY HILLS — Senior Fabian Matthews swept his three sets for the Sea Kings, helping CdM win the close nonleague match Thursday at Beverly Hills High.

The No. 1 doubles team of senior Brent Pham and sophomore Ryan Peyton also swept for CdM (2-0), which plays host to Mater Dei on Tuesday.
