A man struck by a car and killed as he walked across Beach Boulevard Sunday evening has been identified by the Orange County Coroner, authorities said.

The man was Matthew Andrew Mock, 28, of Fountain Valley, authorities said.

Barbara Rodermond, 56, of Huntington Beach, was driving north on a green light at Beach Boulevard and Talbert Avenue when her silver Ford Explorer struck Mock, police said. It appeared Mock was crossing against the red light, police said.

Rescuers rushed Mock to Huntington Beach Hospital, but he died of his injuries minutes later, according to authorities.
