I do not understand why the Pilot now prints anonymous letters from readers. It seems obvious that any opinion expressed by a writer who hides his identity is not only cowardly, but not worth reading. These unsigned letters on your “Forum” page and in annoying snippets on the front page diminish the quality of your newspaper.

Tabloid reports reek of sensationalism at Plot

Your front-page, highlighted article, involving Michael Schofield (“Case: Picasso used for pay,” Jan. 12) reeks of tabloid journalism by the writer, and unprofessional oversight by the editor, responsible for the “Picasso” story I read when I first opened my paper recently.

Regardless of the veracity of the accusation, you are responsible for biasing any heretofore opinions that your readers may have held regarding the incident.

As of the printing the only fact we have is that apparently a complaint has been filed.

No investigation has begun, and no charges are currently pending.

Does Jeff Stokes have any friends at the Pilot or Times who influenced this becoming front-page noteworthy?

I’m disappointed to see the Pilot stoop to such “sensationalism reporting” and further understand why the Daily Pilot is often referred to as the “Daily Plot.”
