Boys still unbeaten
By taking control of the action in the first half Wednesday, the Laguna Beach boys’ soccer team picked up its first Orange Coast League victory of the season and remained unbeaten in league play by routing the visiting Mustangs, 4-1, at Guyer Field.
Laguna took a 3-1 halftime lead, and Coach Patrick Coyne was able to substitute freely.
Subs coming in and making their mark in the victory were Alex Garakian, Max Radach, David Clausen and Matt Miller who scored his first goal of the year.
Also scoring goals for the Breakers were Bryce Healy, Austin Hyden and Ian Greene.
Assists went to Caine Fair and Tim Fulton.
The win improved Laguna’s league record to 1-0-1.
Previously, Laguna and Calvary Chapel played to a 1-1 tie in the league opener for both teams Jan. 11.
Following a scoreless first half, Fulton put the Breakers on the board when he scored off an assist from Greene for a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles earned the tie when they scored on a breakaway with less than five minutes to play.
Alex Germano had six saves for the Breakers.
The Breakers play at 3 p.m. today at Estancia and will host Calvary Chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
