Wirth pushes Hyper to win
Paul Wirth netted the game-winning goal with 43 seconds to play to lift Hyper past the Thrashers, in Wales Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Wirth’s goal, which was his only score in the contest, was setup by a feed from Drew Sorbom.
Daniel Burkhardt scored three goals and assisted a fourth to lead Hyper’s offense. Anthony Tullio scored once with an assist and Travis Hunter also posted a goal.
Paul Wirth also contributed two assists, Thomas Wirth had an assist and Blake Miller recorded 17 saves.
Brandon White scored twice and had an assist for the Thrashers. Matthew Weaver, Luke Buntich and Brocton Jobin each had a goal and assist and Nick Somes had an assist.
In other Wales Division action
Black Biscuits 5, Bandits 4
The Black Biscuits outscored the Bandits, 2-1, in an overtime shootout to notch the win.
In the shootout, Sam Prizler and Zac Witt scored for the Black Biscuits and Austin Gearty for the Bandits.
Witt led all scorers with three goals. Theodore Squilanti also scored for the Black Biscuits and Jake Beardshear and Austin Salisbury each had an assist.
For the Bandits, Trevor Brenden and Connor Culhane scored and Culhane, Gearty an Chris Martinez each had an assist.
Blake Walker finished with 21 saves.
