Boy continues family tradition
Christian Logan AndersonSchoepe of Laguna Beach has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award.
AndersonSchoepe, of Boy Scout Troop 734 in Aliso Viejo, will be recognized in his Eagle Court of Honor ceremony today, his 17th birthday. In earning the Eagle, Christian carries on a proud family tradition. His father, Robert AndersonSchoepe, is an Eagle Scout and earned the national BSA honor of Distinguished Eagle Scout for service in his profession and to his community for a period of at least 25 years after attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
AndersonSchoepe’s paternal grandfather, Adolf Schoepe, earned the national BSA distinction of Silver Beaver for contributions to the Boy Scouts. His maternal grandfather, P. Norman Anderson, was a Boy Scout leader for many years in Laguna Beach known for his expeditions in the Sierras.
Each Eagle candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church, or synagogue-related project.
AndersonSchoepe has earned 24 merit badges to date.
He built an informational kiosk for hikers on a major trail in Crystal Cove State Park. With the help of fellow scouts and friends, he built a double-sided kiosk, which visitors could use to view maps of the park and read about the rules, regulations, and dangers of the park; a total of more than 200 hours was put into the creation of the kiosk.
AndersonSchoepe has served as the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and his troop won the Quality Troop Award for 2006.
AndersonSchoepe spent the bulk of his Boy Scout years in Troop 757 in San Juan Capistrano, and then abroad in 2001 with Troop 27 in Vienna, Austria, before joining Troop 734 in Aliso Viejo. AndersonSchoepe is on the Laguna Beach High School varsity football team, is a member of the California Scholarship Foundation, the high school Art Club. He received the Academic Excellence Award for Chemistry at Laguna Beach High School, where he is a junior.
