Mendez named co-MVP in Orange Coast League

Estancia High senior running back Carlos Mendez was named co-MVP of the Orange Coast League. Mendez broke Estancia’s single season rushing record with 1,530 yards rushing in 11 games.

Senior lineman Conner McKendry was named the league’s lineman MVP for his efforts on offense and defense. Linebacker Eddie Tomasek, wide receiver Ryan Redding, lineman Sean Ulrich, fullback Jimmy Gallegos, lineman Bulmaro Contreras, and lineman Alex Machuca — all seniors — were named first team all-league. Junior defensive back Jason Moreno also took first team honors.

Quarterback Radames Gutierrez, center David Lopez, Alex Allison, Ali Diego, fullback Jordan Mellin, Sam Troncoso, and Ryan Esfahani all took second team honors.
