Harman announces his plan to run for reelection
State Sen. Tom Harman wants another term in office.
“We just kicked off the election campaign this week — I’m looking forward to serving another four years as a senator from the 35th district,” Harman said Friday. Harman touted his 13 years of experience as a politician, as well as his credentials as a fiscal conservative, noting he had not approved any new taxes during his time in Sacramento.
Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who some observers believe could be a potential challenger to Harman for the GOP nomination, said he wants to run for another term in the Assembly in 2008.
He did not absolutely rule out a run for the senate, though.
“I’m happy in my current position, and I have no immediate plans to do anything other than run for reelection,” he said. “I have been very surprised by the very large number of people who have been asking me to run for Senate, but someone asking you to run for something is not the determinate factor.”
