Fast start gives Stars easy win
The Stars shot out to a 4-0 lead and defeated the Jaguars, 5-1, in a Campbell Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Goals by Cassie Moan and Konnor Schnack in the first period, followed by scores by Christa Renfrew and Joel Steele in the second, gave the Stars their 4-0 cushion.
Both teams scored a single goal in the final period as Schnack netted one more for the Stars and Trent Berkenkamp for the Jaguars.
Steele also had an assist and Justin Pichedwatana recorded 11 saves.
Maverick Knight had 15 saves for the Jaguars.
In other Campbell Division action:
H.B. Hockey Monsters 4, Aliens 2
The Hockey Monsters scored the final three goals of the match to overcome the Aliens.
Jake Arnold scored twice and Trevor Arsenault and Jake Grimm each scored once for the Hockey Monsters. Steven Grubbs and Levon Lester had assists and Connor Karns had 10 saves.
Kyle Barrett and Jesse Magallon scored for the Aliens, Luke Benavente had an assist and Levi Pompoco finished with 26 saves.
Hot Shots 3, Lightning Blades 3
The Lightning Blades outscored the Hot Shots by a single goal in the final period to earn a tie. Ryan Armstrong and Wyatt Benson scored for the Hot Shots. Joshua Gramajo had a pair of assists and Armstrong and Jordon Corwin each had one assist.
Dylan Palmer had 22 saves.
The Lightning Blades scoring consisted of goals by Zeke Ziegler, Leon Sandeberg and Jake Coon with Aaron Pumphrey getting an assist.
Joseph Loya had 14 saves.
In Norris Division action:
Puckhogs 4, Stallions 1
The Puckhogs offense scored three goals in a third period that saw their defense not give up a score, which proved to be the difference in a win over the Stallions.
Amanda Vongries scored the first and last goals, and finished with three goals, overall, and Dylan Reightley scored once.
Grant Kang scored for the Stallions and Mitchell Sprague had 21 saves.
Young Guns 6, H.B. Psychos 2
Ryan Beardshear posted three goals and the Young Guns scored three goals in both the first and third periods in defeating the Psychos.
Matthew Manning scored twice and Peter Skowron once to complete the scoring for the Young Guns. Beardshear, Manning, Riley Bozanich and Keanu Maunula each had an assist. Cole Kennedy scored both Psychos goals.
