Students discuss causes of deaths in geography class
On Monday, OCC students enrolled in a geography honors class will discuss their research on causes of death around the world in their presentation, “Geography of Death: Why People Die Where They Do.†Examples will include malnutrition in West Africa, honor killings and capital punishment in Asia, genocide in Darfur, the drug trade in Colombia, deforestation in Brazil, war in Uganda, and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The event is sponsored by OCC’s honors program.
Student presentations will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Student Center lounge on campus. Refreshments will be served. The discussion is free and open to the public.
