Street repair tops list of Costa Mesa city projects
A list of dozens of engineering, transportation and maintenance projects will be on the table today at a study session of the Costa Mesa City Council, which will set priorities for the work. City Manager Allan Roeder said the city has a large load of projects and some of it would be paid for with grant funds that have use-by dates after which they expire.
The list includes a TeWinkle Park playground accessible to disabled children, sidewalks on Broadway, and lighting at the Bark Park, but Roeder said the focus may be on street repair. As much as $20 million in road work is scheduled over the next year and a half.
“Street maintenance is a very high priority for the council,” he said. “It’s something that we hear about regularly from the public.” The Costa Mesa City Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. today at 77 Fair Drive for a study session, followed by a special closed session to discuss the city’s recently dismissed case against protester Benito Acosta.
