IRVINE — Sophomore Corey Attaway scored on a breakaway in the first half, but the visiting Matadors scored early in the second half and two overtimes produced nothing in this Big West Conference game Saturday night at Anteater Stadium.
UCI junior goalie Greg Larson made five saves, but gave up a goal when Sunghyun Kim scored on an assist by Devin Deldo.
The Anteaters, ranked No. 25, are now 5-2-3, 0-1-1 in conference).
Cal State Northridge is 4-2-3, 0-0-2.
UCI returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Vanguard 1, The Master’s 0
COSTA MESA — Sophomore Ryan Marquez scored on a rebound in the fourth minute in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday at Vanguard.
Vanguard goalie Trevor Herrera made three saves to preserve the shutout, as The Master’s outshot the hots, 15-9.
Vanguard improved to 7-4, 2-3 in conference), while the visitors fell to 6-2-3, 2-2.

COSTA MESA — Sophomore Hanna Lovbrand scored both goals in the Golden State Athletic Conference match Saturday at the Lions’ field.
Freshman Ivana Mendez had an assist on the second goal to help Vanguard improve to 7-2-3, 2-1-2.
Sophomore goalie Jillian Foss made two saves to preserve the shutout, as The Master’s fell to 2-7-1, 1-3.
Triton Classic
LA JOLLA — The UC Irvine women’s team finished fourth with 91 points Saturday.
Cal State Los Angeles won the team title with 34 points, USC was second with 70 and Fresno State third with 88.
UCI junior Lauren Chramosta led the Anteaters with a 13th-place finish of 23 minutes, 7.5 seconds over the 6,000-meter course at the UC San Diego campus. Katherine Nielsen was 14th in 23:15.4, Meryl Follosco was 16th (23:19.5), Katie Borum 28th (23:56.9) and Megan Fairley 40th in 24:26.6.
USC’s Zsofia Erdelyi won the race with a time of 21:50.4.
The Anteater men’s team placed fifth with 141 points as UCLA won the title with 19.
UCI junior Greg Thompson finished 21st in 34:33.5 over 10,000 meters. George Morris was 24th (34:41.5), Andy Burich 30th (35:11.0), Solomon Tesfaye 41st (35:37.7) and Rory Mahony 46th (36:01.8).
UCLA’s Henry Hagenbuch won the race in 32:43.1.
Vanguard Invitational
COSTA MESA — Vanguard University’s Humberto Rojas finished fourth in 25 minutes, 19 seconds in the 8K men’s race to help the Lions to fourth place at Fairview Park Saturday.
Roman Pascual came in 10th in 26:02 for the Lions, while Jason Thomas (26:59) and Christian DeGlymes (27:02) were 28th and 29th, respectively. Vanguard’s Darren Bruneck (58th in 29:56) and Jason Valenzuela (64th in 31:03) also competed. Cal State San Marcos won the men’s race.
On the women’s side, the Lions’ Rebecca Sopp finished sixth in 18:30 to help Vanguard take fourth. Gina Attard came in 20th in 19:24 and Kelsie Davis was 26th in 19:39 for Vanguard.
Erinn Walsh (47th in 20:55), Olivia Amstad (55th in 21:42) and Sarann Medlen (58th in 22:36) also competed for the Lions. Biola won the women’s race.
Azusa Pacific def. Vanguard
AZUSA — Kesley Wirt recorded 16 kills and 18 digs for the No. 18 Lions in their 16-30, 30-28, 30-21, 30-21 Golden State Athletic loss to the No. 6 Cougars Saturday.
Kim Wynn had 10 kills and Heather DeJongh added nine kills for Vanguard (6-9, 4-6 in conference). The Lions’ Meghan Walsh chipped in with 24 assists and 12 digs.
