Five teams out of Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football posted impressive wins Saturday in the second week of the 2007 season.

Four of those five teams won by shutout.

Pee Wee Division

Huntington 28, Los Alamitos 0

Coach Kevin Smith’s Green Chargers posted their second-straight dominating victory to open the season, this time by beating host Los Alamitos.

Peter Russo provided the game’s first score on a 40-yard run. Andrew Bogard, Trevon Coley and Brodie Barton also rushed for touchdowns.

Barton scored on a 65-yard run in the final minute of the first half to give Huntington a 28-0 lead.

Coley, Roman Smith, Allen Vogelsang, Steven Tovatt, Andrew Mickle, Trevor Borkowski, Aaron Vargas and Sam Doxakis helped Huntington’s defense rack up the shutout.

Jr Pee Wee Division

Huntington 25, Saddleback Valley 0

Four players got into the scoring act and the Gold Chargers defense didn’t allow a first down until late in the game in a dominating performance at Saddleback Valley.

Two of Isiah Christon’s receptions resulted in touchdowns, one each thrown by quarterbacks Grant Lowery and Keith McCord. McCord and Brandon Lazslo also scored on long runs.

Alec Lowmen was the player of the game on defense for the Gold Chargers. He had five quarterback sacks resulting in negative yardage and was in on several tackles.

Huntington 33 Long Beach 0

Jordan Palomino scored twice, and the Green Chargers recorded their second shutout victory of the season with an easy win in Long Beach.

Seth Fox and Nathaniel Gonzalez also scored offensive touchdowns and Brandon Bryson scored on an interception return.

Midget Division

Huntington 30, La Habra 0

A dominating Chargers performance was capped by Isaiah Lumbruno’s, impressive, 65-yard touchdown run, which finished off the visiting La Habra Lions.

Jr. Midget Division

Huntington 12, South Coast 6

The Green Chargers overcame costly turnovers and a 6-0 halftime deficit to rally past the Black Tritons.

While the Huntington defense was holding the Black Tritons scoreless in the second half, Frank Gonsalves put the Green Chargers on the scoreboard in the third quarter with a 25-yard sweep. Luke Bosilejavic’s 60-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter secured the victory.

Jr. Mighty Mite Division

Santa Margarita 26, Huntington 20

The Jr. Mighty Mites fought hard to the end in a 26-20 loss to the Santa Margarita Eagles. Chase Ault and Shaun Colamonico scored touchdowns in the first half. Quarterback Nolan Funke made his first pass completion to Ault on a successful extra point try.
