Residents can take advantage of 35-cent bus fares Friday in honor of the Orange County Transportation Authority’s 35th anniversary, or stop by the Fullerton Transportation Center, 210 E. Santa Fe Ave., at 11 a.m. for the agency’s birthday party. The transportation authority will honor drivers and customers who have been riding since 1972, recognize the 1.35 billionth rider, and show off the birthday bus, which will give free rides and prizes on different routes throughout September.

The transportation authority also is announcing new low-emission buses powered by compressed natural gas. They’ll replace diesel buses and will be introduced next month. For more information on the Orange County Transportation Authority, visit www.octa.net.
