KOCE case inching toward settlement
The fate of KOCE-TV, Orange County’s only public television station, remains up in the air, but an attorney said the case may be resolved within a month.
Richard Lloyd Sherman, an attorney for Christian broadcaster Daystar Television Network, said he was hopeful that the parties would come to an agreement soon. Attorneys for the Coast Community College District, the KOCE-TV Foundation and Daystar met in court Friday to continue working toward a settlement. The district sold KOCE to the foundation in 2004, but Daystar sued for rightful ownership, saying its higher cash bid made it the rightful owner.
The district seeks to regain KOCE as the court ordered, while Daystar, ultimately, has its sights on securing ownership of the station.
