Drive-in to monitor weekday popularity
After about 30 years without a drive-in, Costa Mesa now has one, and it’s already a hit.
The Star-Vu Drive-In played “Shrek the Third” to sold-out audiences during its opening weekend May 18 through 20. Although the weekend shows have been popular, Orange County Marketplace President Jeff Teller said the company is thinking about having only one showing during weeknights.
“Especially with a kid’s movie, there just isn’t the demand…. To see ‘Shrek’ at 10:30 at night on a school night isn’t as popular,” Teller said.
But depending on the season and what movie is playing at the drive-in, the company may play two shows every day.
The best place to get show information and to buy tickets is www.star-vu.com .
