National Charity League awards teens scholarships
Several female high school students in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District are a step closer to college after the Newport Chapter of the National Charity League announced its scholarship awardees this week.
The mother-daughter nonprofit organization received 19 applications for its need- and merit-based scholarships, and awarded between $500 and $2,000 to each of the applicants, impressed by the teens’ ability to balance extracurricular activities while maintaining a strong academic record.
The young women will be honored at their respective high school awards nights and the money will be sent directly to their college of choice.
