Orange Empire Conference ChampionshipsMISSION VIEJO — The Orange Coast College men’s team is on its way to the OEC title with 605 points to second-place Grossmont’s 337 on the second day at Saddleback College Friday.

Damien Bernard (100-yard breaststroke), Adam Jones (100 backstroke) and Elden Carpenter (400 individual medley) won for the Pirates. The OCC women are also in first with 436.50 points.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 4, UC Riverside 0INDIAN WELLS — The top-seeeded Anteaters advanced to the semifinals of the Big West Championships at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Becky Bernhard and Clare Fermin, as well as Jayme Hu Ali Borowicz, each won in doubles. Fermin, Heidi Kaloi and Borowicz won in singles for UCI (21-3).

BASEBALL

UC Irvine 12, UC Davis 6IRVINE — Scott Gorgen tossed his second complete game of the season and catcher Aaron Lowenstein had a career-high four hits for the No. 16-ranked Anteaters in a nonconference game Friday.

Gorgen tied a career-high with nine strikeouts. Taylor Holiday had four hits to go with two RBIs for UCI (30-11-1).
