Basketball star to sign copies of book at OCCKareem Abdul-Jabbar, the basketball legend and Los Angeles Lakers coach who recently co-authored a book with Orange Coast College professor Raymond Obstfeld, is scheduled to appear on campus today to sign his work.

The co-authors are set to appear in the Robert B. Moore Theatre at 2 p.m. to speak and sign copies of “On the Shoulders of Giants: My Journey Through the Harlem Renaissance.”

The book, released earlier this month, features historical chapters penned by Obstfeld intermixed with personal memories from Abdul-Jabbar.

OCC spokesman Jim Carnett said Abdul-Jabbar would begin the event by speaking about his memories of growing up in Harlem and his experiences writing the book. He and Obstfeld will also take questions from the audience.

Admission to the signing is free, and copies of “On the Shoulders of Giants” will be for sale.
