UC Irvine Invitational
IRVINE — No. 9-ranked UC Irvine defeated No. 6 San Jose State, 8-5, in the fifth-place game of the event completed Sunday at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
The Anteaters (10-3) scored four straight goals to erase a 3-2 deficit and take control against the Spartans as senior Jackie Prine led six UCI goal scorers with two.
Junior Lauren Machanis had 11 saves for the Anteaters.
UCI upset No. 4-ranked Hawaii, 10-4, earlier Sunday behind three goals from Prine, and two apiece by senior Robyn Kaake and freshman Kat Plummer.
Machanis had 10 saves against the Rainbow Wahine.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
UC Irvine 5, Sacramento State 2
IRVINE — Sophomore Heidi Kaloi won in singles and doubles to lead the Anteaters in the nonconference match Sunday.
Kaloi defeated Joyce Martinez Gutierrez, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 4 singles, and teamed with Jessica Broadfoot to earn an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles to help the hosts improve to 10-2.
Becky Bernhard (No. 1), Iunna Agababian (No. 2), Claire Fermin (No. 3) and Ali Borowixz (No. 6) also won in singles for the Anteaters.
Pacific Coast Classic
SAN DIEGO — KD Doran and Mahtab Davatolhagh both won singles finals in their respective divisions Sunday to pace Orange Coast College.
Doran defeated Heather Mason of Riverside, 6-2, 6-0, in the Division IV final, while Davatolhagh topped Riverside’s Vicki Andrade, 7-6, 6-3, in the Division V singles final.
Anabel Sanchez of Riverside defeated OCC’s Jaleh Mazaheri, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, in the Division I singles final.
MEN’S TENNIS
UNLV 5, UC Irvine 2
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Junior Andrei Radulescu was the lone winner in singles for the Anteaters and he also won in doubles in a nonconference match Sunday at the Darling Tennis Center.
Radulescu defeated Wesley Burrows, 5-7, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 4 singles and paired with Alex Sundling for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
UCI fell to 3-4.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Ventura 99, Orange Coast 86
VENTURA — The Pirates ended their season in the second round of the Southern California regional playoffs Friday night.
Orange Coast finished 18-15, while Ventura improved to 25-7.
