Everett Fred Brace
Everett Fred Brace passed away on February 22, 2007 in the home of his daughter, Marilyn Brace Parker of Rupert, Idaho. He was 90 years old. Everett spent his last days surrounded by many friends and family members who came to visit him.
Everett was the son of Frederick George and Helen Jane (Nellie) Brace. He was a long-time resident of Costa Mesa, California, moving here from Nunda, New York with his parents in 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters and one grandson. He is survived by his daughter Marilyn Parker of Rupert, Idaho, his son Laurence Brace Draper of Greer, South Carolina, nephews Richard Brace, Steve Brace, Tim Wilcox, David Wilcox and nieces Gaylene Fisher and Sharon MacFarland all of California, 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In 1947 he married Constance Ross, the mother of his two children. They divorced in 1956. Then he married Betty Chase and they later divorced.
Everett was a long-time employee of Crawford’s Pharmacy in Costa Mesa, working there over 40 years. After retiring he worked for Harbor Lawn Mortuary for 16 years, conducting over 300 funerals.
Everett was a lifetime active member of the Masonic Lodge serving as Past Master and as Chaplain for many years. He was also active in the Lions Club, Shriners’, Eastern Star and the Costa Mesa Historical Society. Over the years, Everett was frequently recognized for his achievements and service in these organizations.
At the time of his death, he was the oldest Costa Mesa volunteer fireman from 1932 to 1945—a fact for which he was recognized in 2005.
A memorial service will be held for Everett Fred Brace at 11 am on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Harbor Lawn-Mt Olive Memorial Park & Mortuary, 1625 Gisler Ave, Costa Mesa, CA with Reverend Charles Hughes conducting. He will be interred in the Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Newport Mesa Masonic Lodge #604.
