The Daily Pilot asked St. John the Baptist Catholic School eighth-graders, “What language would you most like to learn?”

“Spanish, because I have family that speaks Spanish, and I don’t know how to talk to them that well.”

“I want to learn Tagalog, because that’s where my family’s from. It would be a better way to get in touch with my culture.”

“I would like to learn German, because some of my cousins speak German, and it’s fun to listen to them talk.”

“I guess Vietnamese, because I can’t speak it very fluently.”

“I’d learn German, because my tutor’s German, and it’s fun listening to him talk sometimes.”
